Demands

The day we live in is supposedly one that is democratic and men and women have equal rights. Is that really the case though? One example I thought of was females getting married and having to settle down and live with her husband's family. Many times the wife doesn't get the choice of opting out and has to adjust.

I have no issues with this arrangement, but what gets to me is that sometimes the females are forced to be ok with this arrangement with no other say. Also why is it that only the husbands family is important? Why doesn't the wife's family get equal importance? Watching tamil movies where they talk about veetodaa mapillai, like it is some big thing really gets to me. Females oblige to stay with the boys parents and there is no fuss.

Another thing is the youth of India go study abroad and leave their problems for many years without having much problem of leaving their parents there. However when it comes to marriage, no matter what happens they seem to want to be with their parents who have suddenly aged in the short period of marriage discussions (they would have finished studies and been overseas for 10 years and then marriage talks happen and woosh they want to go back to the parents).

Ok ok enough on this subject. But please people let people have their opinions and their own say. There is nothing wrong in staying with or getting along with in laws but there shouldn't be any impartiality and favoring of one side over the other, unless there is reason, afterall what you get is what you should give.
