When anyone goes to the Casino they ask for the Australian ID.

Preethi .......

I am connected (1 degree of seperation) to four others with exactly the same name as me. What the ............. ??? I think I should permanently change my name to Preeth ZzZ and I'm sure not to have other who share my name, unless of course they are copy cat followers, but then again those of you who read my blog know I'm the original! Hehehe...

Demands

The day we live in is supposedly one that is democratic and men and women have equal rights. Is that really the case though? One example I thought of was females getting married and having to settle down and live with her husband's family. Many times the wife doesn't get the choice of opting out and has to adjust.

I have no issues with this arrangement, but what gets to me is that sometimes the females are forced to be ok with this arrangement with no other say. Also why is it that only the husbands family is important? Why doesn't the wife's family get equal importance? Watching tamil movies where they talk about veetodaa mapillai, like it is some big thing really gets to me. Females oblige to stay with the boys parents and there is no fuss.

Another thing is the youth of India go study abroad and leave their problems for many years without having much problem of leaving their parents there. However when it comes to marriage, no matter what happens they seem to want to be with their parents who have suddenly aged in the short period of marriage discussions (they would have finished studies and been overseas for 10 years and then marriage talks happen and woosh they want to go back to the parents).

Ok ok enough on this subject. But please people let people have their opinions and their own say. There is nothing wrong in staying with or getting along with in laws but there shouldn't be any impartiality and favoring of one side over the other, unless there is reason, afterall what you get is what you should give.

The Ghajini in Me

I have a short term memory loss problem which I have identified by myself. Actually I am sure the STML problem is faced by many of my peers. Hmmmm... Wait what was I writing??? ;-) Hehehe ok ok It hasn't gotten that bad yet! My friend was serving us Dinner the night before and ate only at the very end. Next morning he finished having breakfast with us and then I asked him why aren't you eating? Why don't you eat instead of serving us all the time. He looked at me in total shock wondering what was wrong with me and said remember, I just finished having breakfast with you.

The situation is absolutely crazy, I remember things that happened ions ago but don't remember things that just happened yesterday or even a few hours, minutes or seconds ago. I remember many episodes from my childhood and remember them as if they just happened yesterday. But ask me to tell you what happened yesterday and most likely I would not remember or at least not to such a great clarity. Although I think if you ask me 20 years down the line what happened on 18th March 2009 I would be able to tell you! ;-)

My solution to this was not influenced by the movie Ghajini as I started doing this much before the movie was released. I also take pictures believe it or not, to remind me of events and people and things that happened. I just absolutely love looking at the pictures and taking a walk down memory lane. Each time I look at the pictures, the details get clearer and clearer, it really does help!

So people if I forget you, or your name after having met you yesterday or a few hours ago, never fear because I am sure to remember you 10 years down the track as long with or without a picture! ;-)

New Car

There we were walking towards our destination. The fence was in my way and I couldn't see what was on the other side. The anticipation was killing me. Each step closer meant a second less to wait. Then finally after the 8 massive strides I took, it was there right in front of me. The ex-owner was still polishing it and giving it a final clean.

It stood before me glistening in the sun. A gold'ish colour with spotless black interiors. I found myself with a very sheepish grin as I zoned out of my dream world and saw myself in the reflection. I immediately hid my grin and acted like there was never a sheepish grin and the immense satisfaction of getting a new car.

Then the introductions were over and all the nitty gritty details sorted out, the keys were handed over in exchange for the cheque and it is now ours! I got to drive it home, got used to the snazzy features, rear sensors, cruise control, power stearing and the works. My favourite are the rear sensors... Parallel parking here I come!

This is finally the third car for our family, so it now officially means I have a car of my own! It doesn't make a huge difference since I almost always have some car to use whatever time of the day it may be, but still knowing that there is no doubt and one is officially mine is a great feeling! YAY!

Twitter

Who here tweets? I have recently been hearing so much about twitter and decided I would join it. I joined it and saw that hardly anyone I know is on it. I don't see what all the fuss is about? As far as I know it is like the facebook status updates or a shorter version of a blog. Sounds convenient but only if people are interested in hearing about what you are up to almost every second of the day. Hmmmm, so is anyone a twitterer and do you enjoy it? Or generally what are people's thoughts on it? It seems good for celebs without much time but perhaps not for us commoners!

This is an idea curteousy of my friends. People usually talk about the qualities of their ideal guy, instead the twist was finding a drink which complemented and reflected the qualities of the ideal guy.

My ideal guy can be represented by a MOCKTAIL!


  • Fruity - Fun, easy going. bright, healthy and always refreshing!
  • Mixture of Drinks - Multi-talented but all in one!
  • The Taste - Random and always coming up with new and surprising things.
  • Non-alchoholic - The fun without the side effects or brain cell killing. Also just someone who is not an alchoholic.
  • Icey - Always cool!

Hehehe... This was totally lame but really a perfect parallel to the ideal guy! So what's your ideal drink to represent your ideal girl/guy?

Ever been to an Indian school or the local Ganesha temple? Then you have definitely come across "SUPER BRAIN YOGA". If the answer is yes and you are one who performs the actions to be super brain powered. Somehow though the rights did not go to Indians. Americans seem to have founded SBY and claimed the rights and any loyalty towards it.

By this point either you have an idea or are intrigued about what SBY is so just take a look at this video and all your questions will be answered. What comes next I wonder? I am going to bag the rights here and now for our namaskaraam and coin it, "SUPER RESPECT YOGA"!

The Obama Impact

Barack Hussein Obama has already made such a positive impact on this world! His speeches, his family and his down to earth personality have proven to be his strengths. He is a real motivational leader, who has a huge responsibility to change the fate of this world (bring peace not war, end the recession as well as the usual responsibilites of caring for the environment, people etc.).

He has been a real inspiration and the rewards of having such a leader are already starting to show. Millions of people have been urged to take up social work and as Obama suggested that is just what people have done. Starbucks have used their employees to commit to a million hours of community service and now have a promotion where they also urge their customers to devote some time to community service in exchange for a free coffee.

This scheme has worked amazingly well. Other companies such as target have also stepped onto the band wagon and devoted their time or money for this cause. Hats off to Obama for his positive motivation and his sincere devotion and care for people. I hope he is able to make this world a better place in many ways. It's just one man, but perhaps that's all that is needed to make a world of a difference. :-)

Happy Women's Day

Happy Women's day to one and all (females only!).

So here we are on the day to honour the empowerment of women and their wonderful contributions to society. I received a message from one of my friends today which made me think, YAY, finally a male who respects and realises the importance of women (he has a sister and is very close to his mum so that really does explain a lot)! There are many women who have proved themselves and really left a lasting impression for everyone.

Mother Teresa, Marie Curie, Shakuntala Devi, Kiran Bedi, Kasturi Bhai Gandhi etc etc etc... The list can go on and on! Even the supporting forces behind inspirational men are women whether it be a grandmother, mother, wife or daughter. Women are amazing people and are required in the home as well as the society. Although they are considered extremely emotional they have a real head on their shoulders and can step up their game when required and almost always rise to the occasion.

Now let's talk about people who make a world of a difference in our lives, Mothers! They are endless support for us their children in more ways than we can ever comprehend. Mothers are definitely the biggest inspiration for the children and I am sure as we grow older we want to be as strong, supportive and inspirational to all others around us. For me my inspirations in life have always been my grandma, aunts and of course my mum! Love them all a lot and I really hope people realise the importance of women (men and women both).

Guess What?!? Part II

Well the long weekend is going on still which is a good thing.

Here's a little update on the day I had today:
  • I got up after hardly any sleep --> I'm extremely tired and sleep deprived.
  • I looked for the cricket bat but of course couldn't find it! Never can anything be found when it is required. --> No beach cricket :(
  • We went to the beach and most of the people rocked up later than usual.
  • A major positive, we had Baskin Robins! YUM!

Beach Visit Over and Off to the Party

  • Seeing my friends was great, though there were a whole lot of people who we didn't know so the topics stayed between 4-6 of us on our side of the table. A little awkward (no mingling)
  • We party hopped and said a quick hi to another friend who had her party in the restaurant directly opposite. It was great to see her.
  • We went and sat for a coffee and ended up being in what seemed like a mini school reunion.
  • We talked about the really heavy and not so pleasant topics which exist in this world.

So here I am tired, in a really deep in thought state of mind with tonnes of issues on my mind and my reasoning as to how the world and "life" function the way it does! What a day... Did I perhaps jinx it to some extent? I am far too superstitious! Overall it was an alright day, could've been far better but no complaints. I got to see some people I haven't seen in a while which is always great. :-)

Yesterday did some dance practice for a dance which is shaping up wonderfully and we're half way through! ***touch wood*** :D

Started working on our secretly hilarious "project"! :D

I'm going to the beach today with some of my best friends to play some beach cricket! :D

Followed by my friends birthday party where I'll see some near and dear school friends! :D

The point being ***Grin*** :D ***touch wood***

It's really all the small things in life that make up the bigger picture. :D

Sweet Toother's Tip

Ever had a cotton candy/fairy floss/panju mittai and found those lumps of sugar in them? I have always loved those bits, but unfortunately in the fairy floss you get here, those lumps are impossible to find. Those lumps always taste best and are definitely worth looking for.

So this meant I needed to find an alternative. I found out that if you keep a packet of fairy floss open it hardens and you get something close to these lumps but it loses crispness, which was one of the main strong points of the lumps.

So here's the trick: Keep a packet of fairy floss opened or semi-opened and then place it in the freezer for one hour or more. The end result is absolutely wonderful crispy fairy floss, with the sweetness at a perfect level (Not too sweet, not too bland... Just right)! For those hard core sweet toothers and cotton candy fans this is a must try. Try it and tell me what you think! It really does work and makes a huge difference.

And the beat goes on . . . !

Every night before going to sleep thoughts keep whirring in my head at what seems like thousand miles per hour. One thought leads to another and so on and so forth. Totally drives me nuts because it means I am in bed for at least 4 hours before I get to sleep. I know many people face this but it has gotten to the point where I've had enough or more than enough!

I decided to roughly see how fast thoughts were going in my head and so I started counting. Instead of the usual 2 per second 1..2.. it was going at 1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9.10 a second at the least. Not only that but I realised as I was counting my feet were tapping to some mysterious tune as well. I stopped counting as soon as this happened and realised the song that was in my head was the song, "Beat Goes On" and in particular the line, "Drums keep pounding a rhythm to the brain". The only difference was that the line going through my head was "Thoughts keep pounding a rhythm to the brain".

My brain was now sending me songs telling me what exactly was happening. Aaaaargh! It just became far too much. How on earth is a person meant to sleep when her brain itself is telling her that the thoughts are pounding a rhythm to the brain and keeping it awake? LOL! My brain, body and soul want some sleep. So the question really is where are these thoughts from and how dare they control me? LOL!

Terrorism... Is there an end?

Times used to be more peaceful and the word terrorism never used to exist predominantly in our dictionaries. Now however it seems that every corner you walk you have to keep your eyes, ears and any other senses open so you can look out for a terrorist. Terrorism hot lines and what not ready to keep us on edge all the time. As far as I have known since the 9/11 attacks terrorism has been a hot topic.

Terrorists have seemed to still be at large despite the tightened security throughout the world. What's going on? What point are these terrorists trying to prove? Thousands of normal humans have been killed by terrorists all for what reason? For there to be stricter security measures throughout the world? For people who are from certain places and look a certain way to be stereotyped as terrorists? For thousands of people all innocent to be killed, injured or lose loved ones?

It just doesn't make sense. But people have a sad sense of satisfaction and these things just continue happening. More often than not those who they mean to hurt hardly get hurt and many innocent people get hurt directly or indirectly. These days even to turn on the TV requires a lot of thought, whether you are ready to all of a sudden see the live breaking news of terrorists who attack and hear about thousands who have lost their lives. What has happened to the world? Who is going to be able to put a stop to all this? What triggers these attacks? Who has the power and the know how to put an end to this? Come out come out wherever you are!

Tornado Ride

This comes from a conversation a few days ago we were having about natural disasters. I have always found tornadoes absolutely fascinating! I have only seen them on TV and have just been amazed by them. A deep and simple desire I have always had is to be a part of a tornado and actually get sucked up a tornado just to see what it is like. Although it sounds fun in theory in practice it would not be at all pleasant.

Here is where I came up with the idea of a ride that simulates a tornado and is completely safe! Even any other natural disaster simulation ride would just be awesome. I'm sure everyone has at least one natural disaster which they seem to find fascinating and would like to experience as a simulation. Who else is in with me on this?

Disclaimer: I am not trying to glorify natural disasters which kill millions of people worldwide but just saying that they like everything else have a positive and a negative side. So far we've only seen the negative side but lets turn a negative into a positive!

Blogging

Hey all,

Here I am back from yet another totally long break! I have really missed blogging and whenever I see, hear or experience something interesting I think of blogging. So far I think a gazillion topics to blog about have been stored in my head all just waiting to burst out. Somehow though I never seem to find time to blog or when I put those topics onto the computer they never flow the way they flowed when they were in my head. What the.... is all I can say!

This is when I realised the reason I loved blogging so much previously is because it was all spontaneous. It just happened like magic! Another thing and one of the most important things blogging has given me are the wonderful friendships. I have met a few bloggers Priya, Vatsan, Jagan, Ram, RA to name a few. They are all such magnificent people and although we have our differences we are very very alike! We are bloggers with the common purpose of entertaining others and being totally vetti! :D

We used to have a blogging group called Dalda Dappa! It was going great and at its peak, when suddenly everyone became very busy and stopped blogging almost at the same time. Now however a few fellow DD's are getting back to blogging. I also want to resume regular blogging so the suggestion Thalai Priya and I came up with was that we restart our DD group to be bigger and better than ever! New and old pretty much everyone is welcome. Just holler your interest and let's get the ball rolling!
