New Vocabulary

I have realised that offlate my responses for most things are the standard "lol" or if the matter is thought provoking its the "hmmmm".

Its really getting to me and probably more so to the people who get these responses from me. "LOL" seems to be my favourite and most used usage. The problem is that in most cases I am not actually laughing out loud. I have a smile on my face (SOMF) or laughing from within (LFW) or sometimes its just to give some sort of acknowledgement or answer (AA - Acknowledged/Answered).

The emoticon representation:

These can mean many different things. Really depends on the context they are used and most of the times you really need to read between the characters.

:) - content, "hmmm keep telling yourself that", "i agree", "i wld say something, but it wld be controversial", happy etc etc.

;) - "did you get the joke?", "aren't i funny", sarcasm, just kidding, teasing, double meaning etc etc .

:D - ecstatic, "yay", "yipee", "woohoo", "this is exactly what i wanted", over the moon, excited etc etc.

:P - sarcasm, "yeah right", "i told you so", "how rude (in a joking way)", "jokes on you" etc etc.

So there you have it my new vocab. It will surely take time getting used to and wont be as effective as "LOL" but definitely it will be different! :D Trial starts now! As for the hmmmm... It can stay somethings are just meant to be hmmmm'ed!

Burnt Toast

Mum: Sweetheart, please make some toast.

Kid: Sure mum!

(Gets out the toaster, just puts it in, presses down the button and walks away)

***Few minutes later***

Mum: "Kid", look what you've done.

(Kid comes running and looks to see that the toast is burnt to the state of being considered charcoal)

Kid: (replies calmly) What mum? I didn't do anything?

Mum: WHAAATTT??? Can't you see the toast is so burnt?

Kid: It's not me, blame global warming! ;-)
P.S Global Warming is a serious issue. Please do what you can to prevent it!

Mid Year Syndrome

So so much to say yet somehow offlate despite wanting to blog I have lacked the motivation to blog. Or do anything at all in fact. I call this my middle of the year syndrome where times get extremely busy and with too many things on the agenda everything seems to take a back seat.

Here's a question though, is writing difficult or easy? Does it depend on the person, their frame of mind, their communication skills or just good old motivation? All that seems to come to these days are questions with a huge array of answers and theories behind all those questions! Alas am I getting old?
